For Immune Support

Recommendations for Immune HealthOf all the health topics I’ve discussed, few are as universal as cold and flu prevention. And while it’s true that some are more vulnerable to these illnesses than others, there’s no doubt that we’re all at higher risk when the fall/winter rolls around—whatever your age, gender, or health status might be.

For prevention of colds and the flu, I recommend medicinal mushrooms boosted with beta glucans, a good multi-nutrient that contains vitamin C and zinc, and a Tibetan herbal formula for inflammation reduction and immune enhancement. Daily exercise, healthy diet, restful sleep, and eight glasses of fresh, clean water per day are also key in maintaining immune health and ridding the body of harmful invaders.

For active risk protection during times when you are likely to be exposed to colds and the flu (such as during travel), increase your dosages of all supplements you are taking for prevention. Finally, for recovery from a cold or the flu, increase your dosages of all supplements, and also consider adding Echinacea and/or Goldenseal and garlic, along with increased supplemental vitamin C and zinc.

The main nutrient recommendations for immune enhancement when preventing or treating colds and flu are as follows:

Medicinal Mushrooms : (4-12 grams per day)

Medicinal mushrooms have been well researched for their immune-enhancing benefits. When combined in a comprehensive formula with beta-glucans, medicinal mushrooms are an excellent way to boost your body’s natural defenses and combat infection, especially on a long term basis. Mushrooms are also of great benefit during times of acute stress or infection, as they can be taken in frequent doses with no known side effects, making them an ideal choice for both chronic and acute infection.

  • Immune enhancement
  • Detoxification/Liver support

Tibetan Herbal Formula : (1-3 capsules twice daily)

Another formula I recommend is a Tibetan herbal formula, based on a traditional ancient remedy with over 30 years of research confirming its benefits as a powerful circulation booster and anti-inflammatory. It also provides a wide range of herbal antioxidants to reduce oxidation and boost overall health.
